Welcome
Welcome to the website of The Alfred Fagon Award - the Award which recognises the excellent work found in the annual competition for best new Stage Play by writers of Caribbean and now African descent.
About the Award
Celebrating ten successful years as a presence in British Theatre, the Award is dedicated to providing inspiration and validation for playwrights of Caribbean or African descent, who are resident in the UK. Set up in memory of the late Jamaican playwright and actor Alfred Fagon, the Award seeks to recognise and celebrate the talent of British playwrights.
In 2008 the winner will be awarded £5000 in recognition of their outstanding achievement in the art of playwriting. (Television, radio plays and film scripts are not considered).
Already an annual feature in the theatre calendar, this high profile Award will be presented at the Royal Court Theatre at the end of November 2008. The Alfred Fagon Award is funded by the Peggy Ramsay Foundation and is awarded annually.
